ABOUT
I came into the new millennium as Western Michigan's finest black sheep: I left the picture-perfect marriage that I entered (in part) because it was time to achieve marriage, not because it was the best decision for me. I changed professions — yes, whole professional identities — three times (and I'm not finished). I made peace with the fact that I wasn't going to play out the title of Mother in a socially expected Midwestern way or have a family the way They said I was supposed to. I reached a point where I was too committed to telling the truth to successfully (sanely?) exist as an executive in the traditional corporate world. And I'm actively building the discernment and capacity to quit chasing the next title.
uncult is the practice I built on the way out. I still use it every day, because I still lose the thread.
